Taxi Palma

About Taxi Palma

A calmer way to find a taxi in Palma.

Taxi Palma is an independent informational utility. We don’t book rides, dispatch drivers, or take payments — we simply help tourists in Palma find the nearest official taxi rank, with walking directions to it.

How taxis work in Palma

Taxis in Palma are regulated by the Consell de Mallorca. The fleet is uniformly white, with a green roof-light when free, and runs on an official taximeter. Drivers pass a municipal exam covering the city’s streets and the local fare structure.

The fare structure

Rates are published yearly. They consist of a flag-fall, a per-kilometre rate, and a small number of supplements — airport pickup, late-night, public holidays and bulky luggage are the most common. The meter must be visible at all times, and the receipt itemises every charge.

  • The minimum airport fare is set by the local council each year.
  • Card payment is mandatory in every licensed taxi.
  • The taximeter — not the driver — determines the final fare.

Why ranks are the safest choice

Hailing on the street works, but in central Palma it’s often faster to walk to a rank. Ranks are marked, supervised in busy spots, and you always step into a vetted, licensed car. Apps come and go; the ranks have been in the same places for decades.

Who is behind this

Taxi Palma is built by a small team of people who travel often and were tired of arriving in a new city with no quick way to find a proper taxi. We collect taxi-rank data from OpenStreetMap and verify it against the on-the-ground reality in Palma. We have no commercial relationship with any taxi operator.

How to help

If a rank has moved, a new one has appeared, or something on the site is wrong, the fastest way to reach us is the feedback form.
